MyUPMC Privacy Policy

MyUPMC may interact with your personal data to provide certain features, such as video visits or mobile appointment check-in. The first time you try to use any of these features, we will ask for your consent within the app and will allow you to use a feature only if you give consent. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow MyUPMC to interact with your data as requested. MyUPMC is developed by Epic Systems Corporation; please refer to Epic's Mobile Application Privacy Policy for Patients for more detailed information about the ways Epic may interact with your data to make your use of MyUPMC possible.

MyUPMC may offer location-based check-in for in-person appointments or allow you to find health care providers near you. The first time you try to use any features that use your location, we will ask for your consent within the app and will access your location only if you give consent. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow MyUPMC to use your location. We do not store your location data.

UPMC may share information with approved third parties that provide services on behalf of UPMC. These third parties are contractually required to safeguard your information and may use it only to support UPMC services. UPMC does not sell identifiable health information.

MyUPMC provides access to health information contained in your UPMC medical record, including appointments, medications, test results, billing information, and messages with your care team. This information is collected, maintained, used, and disclosed in accordance with UPMC's Notice of Privacy Practices.

Information accessed or maintained through MyUPMC may be retained as part of your medical record. Due to regulatory requirements, UPMC is unable to offer a process for deletion of information. UPMC will retain information in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.

In addition to standard MyChart Mobile functionality, these services include telehealth and video visit technology, analytics and performance monitoring tools, and secure single sign-on connections to related UPMC services. These integrations may collect technical and usage information necessary to provide, secure, and improve the application. Information may be shared with third-party service providers acting on UPMC's behalf in accordance with applicable privacy laws and UPMC's Notice of Privacy Practices. UPMC does not sell identifiable health information.

By using our websites or mobile apps, or by communicating electronically with UPMC, you consent to the collection and use of information as outlined in the MyUPMC Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions | MyUPMC, and Website Terms of Use | UPMC.

Separately, information that is defined as protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act is governed by, and will be used and disclosed solely as described in, the UPMC Notice of Privacy Practices, not this Privacy Statement.
